YooRecipe End Of Life

Hi,

YooRecipe comes to an end as I do not have time to maintain it anymore. Subscriptions are now closed starting from Sep 27. SUPPORT REMAINS ACTIVE FOR ACTIVE SUBSCRIBERS.

All the best!

Build a multilanguage site

YooRecipe supports multi-language. Learn how to turn YooRecipe into a multi-language cookbook.

Joomla multilanguage feature

Starting from 1.6, Joomla natively supports multi-languages. In other words, you do not have to install thir-party extensions anymore.

Joomla multilanguage configuration

To sum things up, here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Additional language installation.

Joomla 2.5 Additional languages are installed exactly the same like any other Joomla! extensions via Extension Manager.

Joomla 3.x Languages can be added from Extensions > Language Manager > Install Language.

  2. Install YooRecipe again

By doing so, Joomla will add required YooRecipe language files.

This step MUST be performed if you are adding a language in which YooRecipe has been translated.

    As of today, available languages are: da-DK, de-DE, el-GR, en-GB, en-US, fr-CA, fr-FR, he-IL, it-IT, nl-NL, pl-PL, pt-BT, pt-PT, ro-RO, ru-RU, sk-SK, sl-SI, sv-SE, tk-TK

If YooRecipe is not available in your language, then you need to manually translate it. Given that YooRecipe follows Joomla coding standards, please report to Joomla documentation about translations for more information.

  3. Configure Language Filter and Language Switcher.

Simply enable the language filter plugin
Extensions > Plugin Manager > System – Language Filter

Language Switcher is a module you need to publish and assign a position so that your users can switch language from frontend.

  4. Create Menu for every language

You need to create a default menu item for every installed language and one additional for each language. So, with two languages, you need to create 3 menus.

After this step, you should see a star main menu and two flags for each language main menu item.

  5. Create your Categories & Recipes

You just have to assign a language (or not) to your Categories and Recipes

Note A category or recipe can have a language set to *, which means that the item will be displayed regardless the user selected language.
